Below are brief biographies of the Directors of Brighter Dawns. The Board of Directors is the legal body that regulates Brighter Dawns’ functions as a non-profit organization. These professionals have generously offered their time and insight to this project.
Mohammad Hossain, Board President
Mohammad Hossain, the first and current Board President, has constantly supported Brighter Dawns throughout the start of the organization. He did his undergraduate and graduate studies in the state of Missouri and currently resides in Connecticut. He is the Senior Enterprise Web Applications Developer/Architect for Pitney Bowes.
Dr. Zakir Sabry, Vice President
Dr. Sabry, the Vice President, is a plastic surgeon now specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1993, he began his post-doctoral training with an internship and residency in general surgery at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan. Dr. Sabry is a “Top Doctor” in the Metro Area listed in Castle Connolly. He currently resides in Manhasset Hills, NY.
Nicole DeSantis, Board Secretary
Nicole DeSantis is an environmental consultant and water expert. During her BA in environmental studies at Harvard University, Extension School. Nicole became fascinated with the global water crisis and went on to complete an MSc in Water Science, Policy and Management at Oxford University. Having worked with international organizations, environmental educators and public health researchers Nicole has garnered experience in environmental education, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and child and youth engagement for sustainable living. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Ahlam Al-Kodmany, Board Member
Dr. Al-Kodmany is a researcher and finance director at the Institute for Health Research and Policy at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She has been with UIC for 22 years. She earned her B.A. in Political Science, M.A. and PhD in Public Policy Analysis at UIC. Her area of research is access to health care for under-served populations in urban settings. Dr. Al-Kodmany is a mother of three and resides in Hickory Hills, IL.
Karam Odeh, Board Member
Karam Odeh is an active community member both locally and abroad. She completed her schooling at the University of Illinois and Chicago’s School of Pharmacy. Although Odeh is a pharmacist, she has decided to stay at home to care for her children and resides in Orland Park, IL. She is a mother of six and has experience dealing with children with special needs. Odeh’s life motto is to “help people in any way” that she can.
Dr. Salim Anik, Board Member
Salim is a an infusion pharmacist at the Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. He has a Pharm.D degree from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. He has been involved as a Bilingual patient translator at NY Methodist Hospital, health awareness programs in Brooklyn area, Welfare and educational programs for the orphans and the underprivileged in Bangladesh.
